Ad budget calculator: return on ad spend and profit
Plan your ad spend with real numbers before you spend it. Enter your budget, cost per click and conversion rates to see the clicks, enquiries and sales you can expect, your return on ad spend, and the profit left after ads. The calculator is free, needs no sign-up, and your numbers stay on your device.
How it works
Clicks = budget ÷ cost per click. Enquiries = clicks × enquiry rate, and sales = enquiries × closing rate. Sales value = sales × average sale value. Return on ad spend (ROAS) = sales value ÷ budget. Cost per enquiry = budget ÷ enquiries, and cost per sale = budget ÷ sales.
Profit after ad spend = sales value × profit margin − budget. The ROAS you need just to break even = 100 ÷ margin %, so with a 40% margin you need 2.5×. The most you can pay in ads for one sale = sale value × margin. The tool also shows how much extra profit closing 5% more of your enquiries would bring with the same budget.
How to use it
- Enter your monthly ad budget and cost per click from your ads account.
- Enter the share of clicks that enquire and of enquiries that buy.
- Add your average sale value and profit margin.
Questions
What is a good ROAS?
It depends on your margin. Break-even ROAS = 100 ÷ margin %. With a 25% margin you need 4× just to cover ads; with a 50% margin, 2×. Anything above your break-even ROAS adds profit. The calculator shows both numbers.
How do I find my cost per click?
Look in your Google Ads or Meta Ads account under campaign results. If you have not run ads yet, start with a small test budget for a week or two and use the real figure, since costs vary widely by country and industry.
How much should I spend on ads?
Start small, measure enquiries and sales, then raise the budget only on ads that bring profitable sales. This tool shows whether a budget pays for itself at your conversion rates and margin.
Is this tool free and private?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up and runs in your browser. Your numbers stay on your device unless you choose to copy the result, share it on WhatsApp, save a PDF or send it to us.
