Stock profit calculator with CAGR
Enter one trade to see your profit, total return and yearly growth rate (CAGR) after brokerage, taxes, fees and dividends. CAGR lets you compare a share fairly with a deposit or fund held for the same time. The calculator is free, needs no sign-up, is for learning only, and your numbers stay on your device.
How it works
Amount invested = buy price × shares, and sale value = sell price × shares. Charges = (invested + sale value) × charges %, since brokerage and fees apply on both buying and selling. Profit = sale value + dividends − invested − charges. Total return = profit ÷ invested × 100.
CAGR (compound annual growth rate) = ((invested + profit) ÷ invested)^(1 ÷ years) − 1. It turns a total return into a steady yearly rate, so a 40% gain over 4 years is about 8.8% a year. This calculator is for learning and planning only, not investment advice, and it does not include tax on gains.
How to use it
- Enter the buy price, sell price or today's price, and number of shares.
- Enter the years held and total dividends received.
- Add brokerage, taxes and fees as a percentage of each side.
